YOU ARE NOT
NOT ALONE

Morning Buddy

“Because one call can change everything”

"Morning Buddy" is a community whose main aim is to create a bond of daily solidarity between its members in order to look out for each other, in particular people living alone, sick, elderly or vulnerable. It organizes a system of regular calls or messages every morning to make sure everyone has started their day well and is not found not in distress or undetected isolation. It aims to prevent critical situations such as illnesses, domestic accidents, or unreported violence, by enabling a rapid reaction if a member does not respond.

FOR WHOM?

A person living alone

Anyone can be a victim of such an illness or accident! This call could save your life...

A victim of domestic violence

Are you a victim of such violence? A simple call, with a prearranged keyword, can save you.

A person in psychological distress

Are you feeling unwell and losing your zest for life? This call can help you ward off suicidal thoughts.

An isolated elderly person

Do you live alone and would like some help just in case? This call will allow you to request that help.

BUT ALSO :

You witness amazing things
and don't know who to tell

Do you see or receive someone who is lost or disoriented (illness, cognitive disorders)? Your morning friend can help you with the steps to follow (for example, by helping you identify whether the person is wearing an identification bracelet or something else).

An acquaintance informs you that she has written a farewell letter? Your morning friend can immediately alert emergency services for rapid intervention.

Do you notice any worrying signs that a child is in danger or being abused? Tell them about your call with your morning friend; this will potentially escalate the information to a child protection agency and possibly save the child.

FOR WHAT ?

There are too many situations where isolation has been an aggravating, or even fatal, factor:

🧓 Isolated elderly people
  • Fall without possibility of calling for help : An elderly person falls at home and remains on the ground for hours, or even days, before being discovered.

  • Undetected death : In some cases, neighbors or relatives discover the death several days or weeks later.

  • Forgetting medical treatment : Failure to follow up or remind (by phone or visit) can lead to serious complications.

💊 Mental health issues
  • Suicidal crises Isolation increases distress. Without human contact, no one is there to detect the warning signs.

  • Deep depression : Without social interactions, mental state can deteriorate without anyone noticing.

  • Psychotic episodes : Some people lose touch with reality without anyone noticing their condition.

🚨 Domestic or family violence
  • Isolated people are less likely to be able to report a situation of violence, especially if they do not have access to a telephone or a support network.

  • In some cases, absent neighbors or relatives cannot intervene or call for help.

🧠 Cognitive or neurological disorders
  • People with Alzheimer's or dementia : They can get lost, forget to eat, or misuse dangerous devices without anyone noticing.

  • Confusion or disorientation : Isolation aggravates the loss of bearings and can lead to domestic accidents.

🌡️ Climate or health crises
  • During periods of heatwave, extreme cold, or confinement, people living alone are the most vulnerable because they do not ask for help or are forgotten.

  • Example: During the 2003 heatwave in France, thousands of elderly people living alone died at home without any relatives noticing in time.

🔌 Home breakdowns or emergencies
  • A single person may not have the means to respond to a heating failure, a gas leak, or a flood. The lack of outside contact makes the situation worse.

DOES IT REALLY EXIST?

Some recent testimonies :

👵 Madeleine, 84 years old — “She fell on a Monday, we found her on Thursday.”

Madeleine has been living alone since her husband's death. One day, she falls in her kitchen. Unable to get up. There's no phone within reach. It's only three days later that her worried mailman raises the alarm. Today, she can't walk.

➡️ A daily call would have been enough to react within the hour.

👨‍🦰 Jérôme, 37 years old — “He smiled on social media, but cried at home.”

Jérôme was silently suffering from severe depression. He worked remotely and saw almost no one. He sent a goodbye message to a friend, who instinctively called. Help arrived in time.

➡️ A phone can save a mental… and physical life.

👧 Emma, 9 years old — “No one heard her cry.”

Emma lived with an abusive mother. She had little outside contact and no close family. A neighbor noticed a change in her behavior. A simple call prompted an investigation. Today, she is safe.

➡️ Identify, listen, alert. Isolation sometimes hides the unspeakable.

🧓 Marcel, 76 years old — “It was 38° in his apartment.”

Marcel no longer went out. In the middle of a heatwave, he didn't open his windows or drink enough water. A volunteer from an association called him every day during the week. By Thursday, he was no longer responding. She alerted emergency services in time.

➡️ Isolation is a risk in a crisis. A call is also an alert.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Morning Buddy, it is a caring community where everyone watches over each other, every morning, simply by a call.

When you register, you choose a time slot to which you wish:

  • be called by an unknown member,

  • And to call yourself another member.

Before your first call, you receive the minimum information that your “Morning Buddy” has chosen to share (first name, city, etc.). This member is always geographically distant from you to preserve anonymity and independence.

🕗 Every morning, you receive and make a call.
📵 If your Morning Buddy doesn't answer, you simply call the emergency contact number provided.
📞 If your own call does not come through, or if you have not been called, you report the problem : we take over immediately.

That's all.
One minute a day. A life can be saved.

CONCRETELY
  1. Registration
You complete the online registration form and pay your support subscription
  2. Receiving data
Once registered, you will receive by email both confirmation of your registration and information about the person who has been assigned to you as your "Morning Buddy." (To protect your privacy, we ensure that they have the least chance of actually knowing you: we rely on your age and where you live)
  3. What you will need to do
In these instructions you will have the information to know who to contact, at what number, during what time slot. You will also have the first name chosen by your Morning Buddy to be contacted as well as his emergency code. You will also have the date from which you must call him. (if the person is absent you will be informed); just as if you are going away for a few days elsewhere for example and do not wish to be called during this absence (for example a week at his son's house) you will have to let us know early enough.
  4. Telephone Dialogue
Calls between community members are not personal calls, so do not engage in any dialogue.
Your calls must be recorded (this will be useful if you need to request police or ambulance assistance); they will be very short. Typical dialogue is limited to:
Caller: "Hello Jerome, this is your morning friend. How are you?"
The answer: "Yes, everything's fine, thank you. See you tomorrow" or "Hi Roger, everything's fine, thank you, but I don't have much time to talk right now, we'll talk later, okay?"
  5. Your reaction
If your correspondent has given you their emergency code, you must call the police in your Morning Buddy's region.
If the line is busy, your Morning Buddy may be calling their own Morning Buddy. Try again every 10 minutes. If the line remains busy for 60 minutes, proceed as if no one answered. Your Morning Buddy may have fallen and their phone may have been picked up.
If no one answers, depending on the data received you will call either the contact indicated or the medical network indicated (depending on whether or not your Friend is following medical treatment)

That's all.
One minute a day. A life can be saved.
